1. Who we are

Chapters is a personal family journal app built and operated by Emir Alili, an independent developer based in the UK. By using Chapters you agree to these terms.

2. What Chapters provides

Chapters lets you record and store private memory entries, photos, and milestones for your children. It is a personal journalling tool, not a social network or sharing platform. Your data is private to you and any family members you explicitly invite.

3. Your account

  • You must be 18 or older to create an account.
  • You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • You may delete your account at any time from the Account screen in the app. Deletion is permanent and removes all your data from our servers.

4. Your content

You own everything you write and upload. By storing content in Chapters you grant us a limited licence to host and display it solely for the purpose of providing the service to you. We do not claim ownership of your content and we will never use it for any other purpose.

You agree not to upload content that is illegal or that you do not have the right to store.

5. Subscriptions and payments

Chapters offers a free plan and a paid Premium plan. Premium unlocks additional features including support for more than one child.

  • Payments are processed securely. We do not store your card details.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date.
  • You can cancel at any time. You will retain access until the end of the paid period.
  • We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods, except where required by law.

6. Availability

We aim to keep Chapters available at all times but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. The service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances outside our control. We are a small independent product and we will always be transparent about any downtime or issues.

7. Limitation of liability

Chapters is provided as-is. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss of data, loss of access, or other indirect losses arising from your use of the service. We strongly recommend keeping your own backups of any content that is important to you.

8. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. In practice, Chapters is a private journalling tool and we have no interest in accessing or moderating your personal content — we will only ever act if there is clear evidence of illegal activity.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will notify you of material changes by email or in-app notice. Continued use after changes are posted means you accept the updated terms.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
