Privacy Policy

1. What Chapters does

Chapters is a private family memory journal that lets parents and their partners capture memories, milestones, and everyday moments for their children. Your data is private and is never shared with third parties for advertising purposes.

2. Information we collect

We collect only what is necessary to provide the service:

• Your name and email address (for account creation)
• Memory entries and photos you choose to upload
• Children's names and dates of birth you provide
• Basic usage data to help us improve the app (e.g. error logs)

3. How we use your information

• To provide and maintain your account and family journal
• To enable partner sharing within your family
• To send transactional emails (e.g. account verification)
• To improve the app based on aggregate, anonymised usage patterns

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising.

4. Data storage and security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, hosted on infrastructure based in the EU. All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. Photos are stored in private buckets and are never publicly accessible.

5. Your rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and all associated data
• Export your data at any time

You can delete your account at any time from the Account settings screen within the app. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at getchaptersapp@gmail.com.

5a. Subscriptions and account deletion

Chapters Premium subscriptions are processed and managed entirely by Apple through the App Store. Deleting your Chapters account removes your personal data from our servers but does not automatically cancel your App Store subscription.

If you have an active subscription and delete your account, you will continue to be billed by Apple until you cancel the subscription separately. To cancel, go to Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your iPhone and cancel the Chapters subscription from there.

We do not have the ability to cancel App Store subscriptions on your behalf, nor to issue refunds for subscription periods already billed by Apple. For billing disputes, please contact Apple Support.

6. Children's privacy

Chapters is designed for parents and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Information about children (such as names and dates of birth) is provided by parents for the purpose of organising their family journal, and is treated with the same security and privacy standards as all other data.

7. Third-party services

We use the following third-party services to operate Chapters:

• Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage
• Vercel — web hosting
• Anthropic — AI-powered tag suggestions (memory content is sent to generate category suggestions only; it is not stored by Anthropic)

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or via an in-app notice. Continued use of Chapters after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
